Mastering Time Management in PSC Examinations: A Practical Guide for Success

Preparing for Nepal’s Public Service Commission (PSC/Loksewa) examinations requires more than just knowledge, it demands effective time management. Many capable candidates fail to achieve their desired results not because they lack preparation, but because they struggle to utilize their time efficiently during both preparation and the actual examination.

One of the most common mistakes aspirants make is spending too much time on difficult questions while neglecting easier ones. A smart candidate understands that every question carries marks, and efficient question selection can significantly improve overall performance. Learning when to attempt, skip, and return to a question is a skill that must be developed through regular practice.

Another key aspect of time management is creating a realistic study schedule. Instead of studying for long hours without direction, candidates should divide their time among Mathematics, IQ, General Knowledge, and revision. Consistency is far more important than occasional intensive study sessions. Even a few focused hours each day can produce remarkable results when maintained over time.

Mock tests also play a vital role in improving speed and accuracy. By regularly practicing under exam-like conditions, students become familiar with time pressure and learn how to solve questions more efficiently. This not only improves performance but also reduces anxiety on the examination day.

As an IQ and Mathematics Instructor, I always encourage students to focus on strategy as much as content. Success in PSC examinations is not about solving every question; it is about maximizing correct answers within the available time. With proper planning, disciplined practice, and the right guidance, every aspirant can develop the confidence and efficiency needed to succeed.

Remember: Time is the most valuable resource in any competitive examination. Those who learn to manage it effectively gain a powerful advantage over their competition.
